Please join the Mamaroneck Public Library's Board of Trustees for an evening of Authors and Auctions.

The highlight of the evening will be a series of interviews hosted by Lori Bergamotto, from Good Morning America, featuring accomplished authors Rupert Holmes, James McBride, Ann Hood, Thomas Dyja, and Annabel Monaghan.

Between the author interviews, an exciting auction will take place. This auction serves as an opportunity to support the Mamaroneck Public Library, ensuring its continued role as a valuable resource and community space.

Beyond the Bookshelf: Our Centennial Celebration not only commemorates the library's history but also underscores its commitment to fostering learning and community engagement. Please join us for this evening of literary enrichment and community camaraderie. Let's celebrate the Mamaroneck Public Library's century-long journey and anticipate the stories yet to unfold.

About the Authors

Rupert Holmes has received two Edgar Awards from the Mystery Writers of America, and multiple Tony® and Drama Desk Awards for his Broadway mystery musicals, including Curtains and the Tony® Award–winning Best Musical The Mystery of Edwin Drood. His first novel, Where the Truth Lies, was nominated for a Nero Wolfe award for Best American Mystery Novel, was a Booklist Top Ten Debut Novel, and became a motion picture starring Colin Firth and Kevin Bacon. His second novel, Swing, was the first novel with its own original, clue-bearing musical score. He has adapted Agatha Christie, John Grisham, and R.L. Stine for the Broadway and international stage. He is also the writer/vocalist of several Billboard Top 10 hits, including his Billboard #1 multi-platinum classic with a memorable twist-ending: “Escape (The Pina Colada Song).”

James McBride is an award-winning author, musician, and screenwriter. His landmark memoir, The Color of Water, published in 1996, has sold millions of copies and spent more than two years on the New York Times bestseller list. Considered an American classic, it is read in schools and universities across the United States. His debut novel, Miracle at St. Anna, was turned into a 2008 film by Oscar-winning writer and director Spike Lee, with a script written by McBride. His 2013 novel, The Good Lord Bird, about American abolitionist John Brown, won the National Book Award for Fiction. He holds several honorary doctorates and is currently a Distinguished Writer in Residence at New York University.

Ann Hood is the author of eleven books, including the best-selling novels The Book That Matters Most and The Knitting Circle, and the memoirs Comfort: A Journey Through Grief and Kitchen Yarns: Notes on Life, Love, and Food. She lives in Providence, Rhode Island, and New York City.

Thomas Dyja is the author of the award-winning The Third Coast: When Chicago Built the American Dream, as well as three novels. He lives on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

Annabel Monaghan is the author of IndieNext and LibraryReads pick Nora Goes Off Script as well as two young adult novels and Does This Volvo Make My Butt Look Big?, a selection of laugh-out-loud columns that appeared in the Huffington Post, the Week, and the Rye Record. She lives in Rye, New York, with her family.
